MODULAR CLARINETS
The Seggelke-Line offers an instrument that meets all requirements both in terms of sound and intonation and is affordable at the same time. These clarinets are made from high-quality woods treated with care and feature a durable and ergonomically optimized Seggelke keywork.
They therefore offer excellent value for money and the “inner values” of a Schwenk & Seggelke clarinet!
This means that not only professional musicians, but also beginners and amateur musicians can play with a clarinet that has been through our workshop and meets our high quality standards.

With our Seggelke-Line we present a unique series, which is prefabricated by the clarinet making company F. A. Uebel, according to our plans. The Seggelke-Line offers three defined variants, various mechanical features and different bores that can be combined according to individual preferences. Final assembly, fine-tuning and quality control are carried out by our experienced instrument makers in our Seggelke workshop in Bamberg.

Perfection IN SERIES
Making clarinets is an art that requires time and dedication. In our clarinet workshop, we have always devoted ourselves to the production of handmade unique specimens that make up our Schwenk & Seggelke brand. These instruments are true masterpieces that require hundreds of hours of meticulous work. The result is clarinets of the highest quality, but also with a corresponding price and limited availability, as we can only produce a small quantity by hand each year.
With our Seggelke-Line, we are opening up an exciting new possibility: it is an enrichment for the world of music, as it facilitates access to high-quality clarinets. It offers a more cost-effective alternative to our Schwenk & Seggelke clarinets and allows a wider range of musicians to benefit from our decades of expertise. At the same time, we maintain the exclusivity and pride that goes hand in hand with our unique handmade products. With the Seggelke-Line, we are combining the best of both worlds, and this is a step that we are taking with great conviction.

TECHNOLOGY IN DETAIL

GERMAN OR
VIENNA BORE
We offer the Seggelke-Line with a traditional German bore or a Vienna bore.
The German bore of the Seggelke-Line corresponds to the narrow bore of the clarinets of our brand Schwenk & Seggelke . It has a centered, throaty sound.
Our Vienna bore goes back to the clarinets traditionally played there since 1900. This is drilled much wider than the German one and also requires longer barrels. The Viennese bore sounds particularly soft and velvety-round in combination with the typical Viennese mouthpiece and reed.

MECHANICAL
SPECIAL FEATURES
We have deliberately reduced the equipment of the Seggelke-Line to 21 keys, which allow all the important fingering variants. The button positions have been designed by Jochen Seggelke with the company F. A. Uebel to ensure optimum accessibility for as many hand sizes as possible. Spring tensions and keys are precisely checked and balanced during final assembly. We have had Allen plate screws made especially for the Seggelke-Line. These are located on all adjusting screw connections throughout the instrument.

MECHANICAL
EQUIPMENT
An A/Ab coupling is installed on the upper joint. The Seggelke-Line has four trills – the second of which is an f-g trill. On the lower joint, we opted for the fork-f mechanism and an f-lever. A bell mechanism can be selected for the A clarinet to optimize the intonation of low E and low F. This is operated by the right thumb. To ensure that the button is easy to reach, the thumb rest is mounted on a wooden plate, which allows the right hand to open wider and thus provides an ergonomically improved grip on the clarinet.

Barrels & BELLS
For the Seggelke-Line, barrels with two wooden rings and a slightly thicker belly has been proven to be the ideal design. Models with a Vienna bore are supplied with barrels with two metal rings.
The bell is of particular importance on the clarinet; its length and shape, as well as the thickness of the material, influence the response, intonation and timbre of the entire instrument. Jochen Seggelke, together with the company F. A. Uebel, has developed a special bell for the Seggelke-Line clarinets, so that the sound is carried into the room as round and focused as possible.
